He has been an active Sportsperson since his childhood playing Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Volleyball, Cricket and represented his School and Colleges in many of them.
He continues to enjoy and plays Sports regularly, his colleagues will vouch for his passion for Sports.
Rajesh was diagnosed with COVID symptoms in the 1st week of May in Jaipur and was hospitalized on 12th May after he felt breathlessness and was put on Oxygen support.
On 25th May he was shifted to Intensive Care Unit and put on Ventilator support after his HRCT scan showed 24/25.
On 29th May he was put on ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) support due to Carbon Dioxide building up in his body and his lungs needed support.
On 25th June, he was shifted from Jaipur by an Air Ambulance to MGM Healthcare Chennai for further treatment, he was registered for Lung Transplant and his name was added to the Waiting List.
He continued to be on ECMO support, but the Doctors advised that Lung Transplant is the only option if the Lung does not recover.
After 56 days of being on ECMO support, he underwent Lung Transplant on 24th July.
The total incurred expenses so far have been INR 1.2 crores (appr. USD 161,000)
So far, out of the INR 61,00,000 (approx. USD 82,432) generously funded by supporters, we have utilized INR 60,00,000 (approx. USD 81,000).
While his family and friends are doing their best to fund the sky-rocketing medical expenses, we need your help.
Please let him get his life back. His wife, children, brothers, his family and friends need him. This is a desperate plea from his wife, and parents to save him.
Rajesh is a fighter and has fought back from losing positions in many of his matches and tournaments. Of course, he always had many people encouraging and supporting him.

Rajesh, 46 years old has a wife and 2 children and is son of P. Ponnuswamy, Retired Chief Electrical Engineer, Central Railway.
Rajesh is the Project Manager for Mumbai Metro Line 3 and works for Alstom Transport India (Alstom SA).
He has contributed to many greenfield Railway infrastructure projects - Western dedicated Freight Corridor from Delhi to Ahmedabad, Eastern dedicated Freight Corridor from Delhi to Howrah, Mumbai Monorail and others in his earlier assignments with Hitachi Ltd., Ansaldo STS Transportation Systems and Siemens Ltd.
He always takes care of those around him and tries to put a smile on their faces and himself has a good sense of humor.

His condition worsened over the last few days and the doctors have suggested that getting him an ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) support potentially is the only course of action left with a near-certain Lung Transplant as the next step. ECMO support will relieve him of the ventilator and give his lungs a chance to heal. It has now become essential to his survival. In order to prepare for the lung transplant his family is forced to take him to a facility in Chennai. He needs to be airlifted to Chennai for further treatment.
This comes with a huge financial burden and stress. The projected costs involved in the operation are:
