    Rajbir Das

    from Agartala, Tripura

I am Apu Das, a construction worker from a village near Agartala, Tripura.  My son Rajbir Das who is now 12 years old is suffering from Congenital Heart Disease. His first heart surgery was done when he was a year old and he was growing well when few months ago, he developed breathlessness and walking even short distances became difficult. He would be so tired he could not go to school and doctors said he needed another specialized heart surgery for which he was referred to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru under the government's scheme called Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram.I brought my son to Bengaluru and the surgery was done. Rajvir was in ICU for nine days and made a recovery to be shifted into the ward for another two weeks and then discharged with tubes to drain out fluid that collects near lungs after heart surgery.  I shifted my son into a rented room near the hospital for continuing reviews and on doctor’s clearance, took my son back home end of April. Our whole family were overjoyed. By now, whatever little savings I had and the help I got from known people was exhausted with additional travel expenses, medical tests and medicines.

However, some complication has developed and Rajbir urgently needs another surgery called ‘Left Lung Decortification’. It is very difficult to see him coughing with pain and becoming weaker and I need to get his surgery done at the earliest for his recovery. My family is poor and I have not been able to work these past three months because my child’s medical needs have needed my constant presence beside him. We need about 315000 for his surgery and stay. Please help me save my son. Every contribution and sharing with family/friends will make a huge difference for my son and our family.

I will be very grateful for your help and for keeping Rajbir’s surgery and recovery in your prayers.
