This is a call for support, for my father Rahul Barua, who suffered a tragic setback during a procedure in his lungs and went into coma after suffering a cardiac arrest. He has been on life support for the past 2 months.
I am his daughter Vaishali, a performing artist and a research scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. I am the only earning member of my family and my parents depend on me for all their financial needs. Till recently, I had met these needs through stage performances while I also pursued my academic career.

However, owing to the pandemic situation in the country and no performances taking place, I have not been able to earn anything during the last 7 months. My father, who is 67 years old, has multiple organ ailments including Chronic Kidney Disorder, requires constant medical care maintaining haemodialysis (MHD) thrice a week. So far, I have used my modest savings to meet these expenses.

On July 21, he had to be hospitalized for pleural effusion procedure since his lungs were affected due to tuberculosis (TB). His body went through setbacks during the procedure. On August 6, he suffered a cardiac arrest causing hypoxic brain injury and has since been on life support. Currently he remains semi conscious and needs further treatment.

Having exhausted our savings and medical insurance until now, my present financial state does not enable me to bear expenses for his further medical treatment.
The daily expenditure for his treatment is around 40,000 INR. With his current medical condition, my father will need prolonged intensive and institutional care which I cannot afford anymore.

Despite his critical condition, my father is alive and fighting each minute to regain consciousness and get better. I want him to continue his fight and I request you for your support to help him through this.
