A costly first date turned into a ₹33,000 lesson — sharing my story and asking for support

Last Sunday, I went on my first-ever Tinder date. I had no prior experience with dating or going to pubs, so I didn’t really know how things usually work. I trusted the situation and went along with the plan.

We went to a pub, and orders kept coming in — food, hookah, drinks. I had a budget of around ₹5,000 in mind, but I didn’t realize how quickly things were escalating.

When the bill arrived, it was ₹33,000.

I was shocked and completely unprepared. I asked if we could split the bill, but that didn’t happen. In that moment, with staff standing nearby and the pressure building, I panicked and paid the full amount by withdrawing ₹28,000 instantly, even though I couldn’t afford it.

Right now, I’m facing the consequences of that decision. I live alone, and this unexpected expense has left me struggling to manage my basic monthly needs.
