Hi all,

The idea came from a very personal cause. My mother and I have been victims of domestic violence for around 20 years since my childhood. My mother could never go out of this because her parents were not economically well-off to sustain her and my education. She did not even have a bank account back then. So she stayed back. But she has fought every wrong vehemently staying inside the house and has ensured that my education and growth is uninterrupted. We are still subject to unpleasant conditions at times, but the rate has decreased to a great extent,now that I have my job and can support my mother.

I understand the helplessness of women who cannot come out of this situation just because they are not financially empowered. I would like to raise these funds and parallelly identify people in our daily surroundings who cannot speak up against these issues. These funds would help them take the first step towards fighting back with the security of a financial backup. For example, one can at least have the option of packing her bags and coming out (with her child, if there is a child) of her husband's place and start living independently and find herself a job. To sustain her through that period is the cause of this fundraiser so that she can feel more confident and do something on her own rather than staying back and undergoing the damage every day.

My next step is to collaborate with NGOs like Ashraya who are already working for similar causes and redirect these funds to a larger number of beneficiaries through these organizations.
