We are currently witnessing a humanitarian crisis in India of proportions never witnessed before as medical infrastructure is choking under the pressure of the global pandemic. There have been at least 400,000 new infections reported every day in the past week, with cases continuing to rise at unprecedented levels, people dying outside hospitals due to a lack of oxygen cylinders and hospital beds. With thousands of, there is an urgent need for access to life-saving healthcare equipment.
Who am I? Why I am doing this?
My name is Pavan, lived in Bern for 6 years from India currently living in a village called Pandalapaka, near Rajahmundry, Andhra pradesh.
Since,beginning of second wave I have been using social media to find oxygen beds, medicines and shipping meds to friends and favipiravir to random strangers. I have encountered with people are taking desperate measures to try to keep loved ones alive, many were taking advantage of hapless people selling vital supplies at exorbitant rates, fleecing poor patients.
Goal of my Campaign
I am planning to procure 12-15 oxygen concentrators, set up an Oxygen library. This initiative will provide oxygen concentrators free of cost to Covid-19 patients in need. Each oxygen concentrator will be rented to a Covid-19 patient for a period of 4-5 days.
Where and how are the oxygen library works?
Oxygen library will be set up in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. We will be working in tandem with hospitals across levels of care and Village volunteers in Andhra Pradesh, who are supporting the response against COVID-19.
The process of distribution of concentrators,
i) Equitable distribution & Ensuring adequate training - Concentrators are given rental basis to patient recommended oxygen therapy or oxygen saturation between 93 - 88 only after recommended by the doctors.
ii) Transparency - All details procurement shall be published on the website. These dashboards can be accessed at: https://www.oxygenconcentrators rent inrajahmundry.in (coming soon) real time availability of devices, cylinders for rent.
iii) Impact: Distribution as quickly as possible to save the maximum lives.
What are costs for procurement of these devices?
The procured OCs shall be a mix of high-flow and low-flow devices. 0.5 -7 L/min flow oxygen concentrator costs Rs. 65,000 (USD 800) and 10 L concentrator costs Rs 1,20,000 (USD 1200 aprox). The rates of procurement are orders placed with our suppliers.
