Every year the Brahmaputra rises and floods hit Assam, we read headlines that speak of deaths, both human and animals, we read about the devastation in the form of crops destroyed, millions displaced and this time we are also in the middle of a pandemic. The affected people are not only victims of floods but also COVID-19.
Let’s understand how these floods take place, floods are natural for Assam, they were good for our crops, the sedimentation left the soil fertile.
But, with time human activities and industrialization took over, forests cut, delicate areas encroached, we started playing with our nature.
Yes, Assam floods are partly natural but they are now largely influenced by climate change which is why we humans are responsible.

Deforestation in the Brahmaputra area, the encroachment of floodplains, location of Assam, poor maintenance of embankments and climate change are a few of the reasons.

With every year passing, the frequency of floods has increased dramatically along with the increasing deaths and devastation.

This pandemic is also an indirect outcome of deforestation and climate change.

You and us, we can become the change, in fact, WE ARE THE CHANGE.
Let’s stand for our fellow beings, let’s make this world a better place to live.

Who are we?

We are the youth of Assam, a group belongs to Assam, Northeast India and heartbroken with the devastation. As fellows of this planet, the devastation these floods cause - hunger, unemployment, displacement, deaths, etc move is to stand and take charge. Where will the funds be used?

We plan to cover all sorts of basic necessities that are required to survive these floods that include clean water, hygiene, dry food, first-aid boxes, etc.

Along with this, we also wish to provide relief to domestic animals that are affected by the floods by providing them with shelter and food.

WE URGE YOU TO DONATE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, EVERY PENNY MATTERS
We also request you to read how the Assam floods are influenced by climate change and human activities.
