1. Geographical coverage
1. Worst affected areas with a high number of communities prone to food
shortage and infection will be targeted for the response. Priority
would be given to the areas where the need is more.
Given the severity of the situation, our response will focus on areas of
Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Direct Coverage (Safety Kit,
hand wash facility, UCT/ food
kit)
1200 families - The target will be updated as per the field situation
The current response from the government is very evenly working for the communities but In spite of all positive
wills and intentions, there are some very crucial aspects that actually make it further challenging for India
to combat the spread of COVID 19:
Lack of access to preventive materials, equipment like soap, sanitizer, etc.: Once the access to finance
for meeting the daily needs are getting scarcer for the people, ensuring the supply of materials is another
the challenge, more specifically for people from lower-income levels.
Lack of financial support to maintain ‘Social Distancing’ without compromising basic minimum
requirements of living: As already mentioned by the Prime Minister of India, staying home is a very
effective strategy for preventing the spread of COVID 19. Given the fact that only 23% of the Indian population
is engaged in the organized sector, where ‘Working from Home’ could be a viable option. For the majority of
the people from business or unorganized sectors, managing the resources for sustenance is a key challenge.
A large chunk of people, mostly from the poor, Dalits and other excluded communities, enabling financial
support to follow the preventive practices are very limited.
Specific Objectives:
1. Minimizing the risk of spread of COVID- 19 among the general Mass, through enhanced knowledge
and skills of the women members from the selected communities on safe practices at family and
community level. Distribution of ‘Safety Kit for Community’ with materials/ equipment among the
community members to help protect themselves from the spread of the infection.
Composition of ‘Safety Kit for Community’: Each kit contains the materials sufficient for a family of 5 to
ensure the preventive actions for at least one month
Washing soaps
Liquid soaps
3 Ply Mask
2. Improving the resilience of the most vulnerable families in target areas through Emergency Food
Security and Vulnerable Livelihoods (EFSVL) measures. Under this, we will be distributing dry rations
3. Identify the most vulnerable families (women-headed, families with elderly, differentially able or
ailing people), daily wage earner, and another marginalized group in the project areas
4. Support through Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT)/ food items to the most vulnerable families to
ensure their survival during the days of maintaining ‘Social Distance’ as a preventive measure
