Our baby Vara - Ashwin and I had a premature baby, born at just 960 grams due to a serious complication I developed called pre-eclampsia. We are extremely fortunate that we had access to great facilities and doctors who could save Vara after a 2 month battle for life. In gratitude we would like to pay it forward. India loses 6 lakh babies yearly due to premature births. We hope that number comes down to zero someday and from our side would like to do our bit by saving 10 little Varas (blessings) for now.
Cost of saving a baby - It takes approximately Rs. 1,50,000 to save one under privileged, low birth weight, premature baby. We seek to raise Rs. 15 lakhs (21,029 USD) to save 10 such babies.
Partnering with the hospital that saved our baby - We are raising the funds to be utilised at the NICU where Vara was saved. Where we can personally vouch for the top class facility, doctors and team. A private hospital, where no baby is turned away even when it is abandoned or the family is too poor to pay for treatment. Where cutting edge research is brought into practise daily. Where the doctors and nurses work selflessly. Where baby survival statistics compare to the US - St. John's Hospital, Bangalore.
