Pregnancy is a beautiful phase of every woman’s life. Gyankunj is raising funds to support 50 high risk pregnant women in their journey of bringing a child into this world.
We want to begin 2023 by working on causes related to women's healthcare and motherhood. Over the years we have observed the challenges women face from conceiving to childbirth and post-natal care. There is the unavailability of nutritional food, access to medical care, no emergency vehicle support, and a lack of counselling and awareness, to name a few.
Women from low-income groups are disproportionately affected by these gaps in our medical and healthcare infrastructure. Gyankunj aims to support minimum 50 women with high-risk pregnancies in J.J. Colony Bawana, Delhi with the help of ASHA workers.
What is the role of ASHA workers?
ASHA workers mobilize the community and facilitate them in accessing health and health related services available at the Anganwadi/sub-center/primary health centers, such as immunization, Ante Natal Check-up (ANC), Post Natal Check-up supplementary nutrition, sanitation and other services being provided by the government.

How the Funds will be used?
To improve the nutritional status of pregnant mothers, Gyankunj is donating Maternity Kit for Prenatal & Post Natal Care.
These kits will ensure a boost in the immunity of pregnant mothers and women. Only a strong immunity will help them prepare to fight any disease or virus. Good nutrition and healthy food intake during the antenatal period are critical for expecting mothers. Eating food rich in fibre, iron and calcium, etc. can decrease the risk of congenital diseases and nutritional deficiencies in new-borns.

As Gyankunj passes the baton to 2023 we want to thank each of you for your support, contribution, and well wishes in 2022. Our community relies on your faith in us. Your support and our persistence have reinvigorated young minds over the last few years. These beneficiaries have demonstrated that their aspirations dwarf even our most adventurous imaginations. We want to assure you, your contributions strengthen the community, the country, and humanity. Please continue your relationship with us in the means you feel fit. We are always indebted to your trust in us.
About the NGO: Back in 2017, we discovered that it is not a lack of interest of slum children but rather a lack of good teachers that resulted in high dropout rates. Gyankunj originated with the objective to reduce dropout rates and provide high quality and concept-oriented education to these children.
Our initiative empowers less privileged by providing primary education & digital literacy, sewing classes – Sui Dhaaga, and generating social awareness. We presently engage 200+ students in the JJ colony of Bawana and look forward to rolling out similar programs in other areas of Delhi.
This locality is highly crime-prone and we decided to open this centre to engage more and more children in meaningful and productive activities/tasks, keeping them away from negative elements/influences.
“A consensus amongst the founders of this program is that education can equip a child to think independently and become an asset to their broader community.”
