Problem Statement
There is a growing challenge of expanding city and with that an increase in the canine population.
•India has approx. 60 million street dogs, 4th highest in the world.
•India reports one of the highest incidence of rabies deaths – ~18,000 to 20,000 cases of rabies a year, 36% of the world’s deaths from the disease.
•More than 1.5 lakh stray dogs roam the streets of Kolkata , estimating one stray dog for every 30 people.
People respond to these issues with fear and cruelty to the animals → Worsening of the human-animal conflict and cruel deaths of the dogs.

Solution: A one stop animal treatment & rehabilitation Centre, Chhaya Animal Hospital, which provides
1.Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme - humanely neuters street dogs to reduce their population.
2.Street Animal rescue, picking up injured animals & providing them necessary treatment.
3.Free treatment for cattle of villagers – helping to sustain livelihoods.

What we have achieved since our conception in 2008:
•ABC operation on 11,200 dogs till date
•98% Success Rate in Animal Birth Control
•20,000+ livestock animals (cows, goats, bulls) treated
•Treated & Rehabilitated close to 25 Horses
We seek your support for - We are aiming to ramp up ABC effort over the next 6 months, with a concerted drive of neutering 500 dogs.
