Further, resources and discourse available online often represent polarized ideologies, lacking a balanced and unbiased approach towards both national and international politics. Teengers are thus exposed to strong and opposing perspectives which inhibit the ability to form personal opinions guided by objective facts and contextual understanding. This is especially true for young adults from underserved communities, where social injustices and caste-related difficulties further encourage a sense of alienation from political discourse.
DEPO is a social endeavor focused on disseminating global political awareness, especially among youth from historically marginalized groups in an effort to empower them with a forum for international political discourse. Through the development of an official club at the partner NGO, a series of interactive debates, and an extensive guidebook, this programme seeks to enable youth to participate in conversations about political polarization.
DEPO now seeks to raise funds to support Delhi-based NGO Prajna Foundation’s efforts in empowering the youth in India with the necessary information and resources to become active participants in not only national politics discussions but also engage fruitfully in international discourse.
