I am raising funds to Sterilise around 150 dogs inside Sealdah platform from Mother's Heart NGO during the lockdown.
Sealdah platform is a huge commercial railway station and one of the busiest ones in Kolkata. During normal times it is a huge problem just walking through the station, let alone pick up dogs for sterilisation. Since the lockdown, I have been feeding the dogs inside the platform along with NRS Hospital, Alipore court, Alipore Police Station and few other areas. I feed around 200 dogs each day with chicken and rice. On my feeding rounds the sight of the starving malnourished lactating mothers and dying infant dogs have shaken me to the core. On every sight I have atleast 5-8 mothers and innumerable puppies, out of which God knows how many will see the end of this lockdown.
So I decided to start a sterilisation project area by area. My first stop is Sealdah platform which I cannot sterilize on a normal day because picking up dogs amidst such huge crown would be impossible. So lockdown gives me the perfect opportunity to pick up dogs for sterilization from the otherwise densely populated parts of Kolkata.
Mothers Heart charges 1800 rupees per dog. And there are around 200 dogs inside Sealdah platform. Starting 14.04.2020 we will be picking up 20 dogs each day, because that's the maximum number we can pick up in a day.
I am an independent rescuer with 21 rescued stray dogs living with me and around 300 dogs that I have started feeding ever since the lockdown. I need help to sterilise as many dogs as I could so that we can reduce the number of insufferable animal deaths. These dogs don't deserve to die on the road due to accidents, hunger, cruelty etc. We need to change the date of these dogs from the miseries of the cruelty streets. Help me see this through.
