I am Valampuri, M/o Poorvaja V. She lost her hearing and speaking ability as a consequence of brain fever at the age of one and a half years. We were not in a financial position to cure her disabilities at that period. At the age of 8 , after undergoing a lot of efforts , she had her cochlear implant operation done, which costed around 8 Lakhs those days at MERF Chennai by Dr.MohanKameshwaran. Even after 12 years , our family couldn’t recover from the drench of poverty. Now the cochlear machine (SPRINT) she uses became outdated and spare parts productivity has been stopped, this situation makes hard for her to continue her studies without a proper aid for her to hear. And its mandatory to change to the new Cochlear( Nucleus 7) , that costs around 6.2 Lakhs, which our family can’t afford completely.
