I, Avij Dhuppe, am the project director of Ahilya NGO. I understand the importance of education in building futures - and we work hard to make education easily accessible to the disadvantaged.
This cause is close to my heart and I would like to help these deserving children take a step towards a better future.
About our NGO - Ahilya Bahuuddeshiya Shikshan Prasarak Mandal
Our work focuses on helping poor students from slum areas. We provide vocational education and health awareness programme for them. Our training course aims at honing the potential of the kids who work as street vendors and helps the ones who don’t possess vocational skills to become self-reliant. The kids are trained in, carpentry and sewing. They are also taught to work as electricians. Some of these children have excelled with training in computers as well. The course runs for a period of 6 to 12 months, thereby helping them become independent. Not just this, once the students complete the course, they are given admission in government schools that we are affiliated with. In the last 15 years, we have trained over 1500 students of Latur city and the task of their rehabilitation has been done successfully and efficiently.
As this year’s vocational training commences, the cash flow of our non-profit has unfortunately been blocked, and we are running short of funds. For all these years, we were financially supported with Rs. 10 lakh, by the Women and Child Department of the Central Government. However, this year we have not received any help from them. The building we conduct the course in needs a renovation. But with no money to even support the course, I fear our entire vision will suffer if we don’t get the money needed to help these kids. If you can make a generous donation, your contributions will be used for:
- Hiring a Counsellor to interact with the kids and guide them in their professional journey
- Salary for Vocational Trainer/ Educator
- Salary for Social Worker and Medical Officer
- Stipend for trainees
- Nutrition cost- to provide meals to children/ students
- Providing training material
We stand with the objective of developing a facility of education, empowerment, health and livelihood to socially uplift the underprivileged children and women. Over the years, we have worked on the ground level and have understood that 40% of children in India live in difficult circumstances - homeless, trafficked or forced to work. They are often victims of abuse and violence. Every donation from your end will give these underprivileged children a chance at becoming independent. I have attached the budget proposal below and an additional Rs.5 lakh will be used to renovate the building where we train the children.
