Heavy rains in the last month created a disastrous situation in Maharashtra. Hundreds of people lost their lives in various rain-related incidents including floods and landslides.
CORO is a 32-year old organisation working for the marginalised communities in Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Most of the areas affected by floods, come under CORO's intervention. Incessant rain across the Konkan region of Maharashtra has led to flooding in several districts (Chiplun, Mahad, Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara) resulting in the death of hundreds of people and significant property damage as well.
The flood hit everyone but the most affected ones are the people from our vulnerable communities. They have already been adversely affected by the Corona pandemic as they lost their livelihood being on daily wages. Most of the people in these communities are labourers, poor farmers, migrant workers, single women, victims of domestic violence, small vendors etc. At present, they need immediate support towards food and medical supplies.
We request you to help us raise the required funds so that we can reach out to the neediest people in our communities with the required support. The support will be given in the form of medical kits, dry ration kits, blankets, medical camps.
Your timely support will give them some hope and courage to face and overcome this daunting situation.
