Pavithra Padmakumar, who is 38years old, lives in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, with her husband and 2 daughters. She is suffering from necrotizing fasciitis of the neck, which is a life-threatening condition, for which she has undergone multiple surgeries and is currently in the ICU. In simple words, the tissues in her face were affected by a rare bacteria. She needed tissue removal and reconstruction on the chin, cheeks, neck, and ears. She was critically hospitalized on the 22nd of April and the surgeries started the next day.
 
She has been receiving ICU care since 22nd April in a private hospital where we spent about 1.23 lakhs. Due to the severity of the infection, we had to shift her to another hospital on 25th April. She is in an isolated space in the ICU and the per day cost is about Rs.65,000 to 70,000. We have spent about Rs.14 lakhs and we are still expecting about 4 lakhs additionally before she is ready home.
