Since last two years, heavy rain shown its effects on Konkan region are very frightening. The massive collapse of the landslides, the altered flow of the rivers has done huge damage in the area where Srushtidnyan is working. It is important to understand why such disasters are occurring frequently. The mountains of Sahyadri have been exposed due to innumerable deforestation along with the local tree species. Fertile soil is being carried away with heavy rain fall, so river basins are becoming shallower and the flood crisis is increasing. The destruction of the root network of local forest trees has destroyed the very structure of nature that holds soil and rocks together. As a result, the incidence of land sliding in the Sahyadri is increasing. As a result, there is loss of life, property and loss of agriculture. It is a matter of great concern that the constant erosion of mountains and rocks engulfs the entire village. It is high time to act on this issue as soon as possible.
This crisis can be overcome by planting local forest trees in their area in a scientific manner and cultivating them for a long time. Srushtidnyan is promoting the cultivation of bamboo to prevent the landslide. This type of nature conservation will not only prevent loss of life but also economic prosperity.
1. Renewable Resource: Bamboo's versatility as a substitute for hardwoods offers a chance to drastically reduce that figure and protect the forests that we have left.
2. Soil protection: Once hardwood forests are clear-cut and the stumps are burned to provide fertilizer and space for growing crops, erosion inevitably occurs as the topsoil and nutrients are washed away by rainfall. The eroded soil then clogs rivers and streams and affects the lives of people and animals living downstream. Bamboo roots remain in place after harvesting where they prevent erosion and help retain nutrients for the next crop.
We are raising fund for Rs. 1,000/- per bamboo saplling include plantation cost and after care cost for 1 year.
