‘Any form of art is a form of power; it has impact, it can affect change- it can not only move us, it makes us move.’ – Ossie Davis

The Nirmal Bhartia School, situated in Sector 14, Dwarka, New Delhi, has joined hands with St+art India Foundation to support the creation of a vibrant art space in the locality by designing and creating wall murals at the Dwarka Sector 14 Metro Station.

Celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the artwork titled 'Forests of Hope' will honour and celebrate the resilience and remarkable accomplishments of the DMRC. Bringing art to the commuters of the Metro Station near the school is a first step in developing a distinctive character for Sector 14, Dwarka. DMRC has assigned the School five spaces at the Sector 14 Metro Station, which are blank canvases for the young, extraordinary and extremely reputed Warli artists, the Vayeda Brothers, from the region of Ganjad in Maharashtra.

The Vayeda brothers’ works have been a part of gallery and residency showcases across the globe, including the Artisan Centre, Mumbai; Modesti Perdriolle Gallery, Brussels; Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Brisbane; and Mithila Museum, Japan. In 2019, they received the Ojas Art Award for the Artist of the Year. Their illustrated book, The Deep, written in collaboration with Gita Wolf, was published by Tara Books in 2020.

The total cost of this refurbishing project is Rs 20,09,840/- which includes payments for travel, accommodation and residency of the artists and resource material.  The month long residency project will engage guest artists who will guide the students of the School to create these works of art.

The students have the big idea, the passion and also, guidance from eminent artists. All they need now is your support in bringing this change!

How can you help?
  • Contribute a minimum of Rs 500/- towards logistics and other incidental costs.
  • Donate paint
  • Sponsor travel, accommodation and residency costs of the artists
(Please send an email to nirmalchhaya@nibs.edu.in  for the 2nd and 3rd options)

The funds collected will be donated to the St+art Foundation for Art & Culture, a registered non-profit NGO under the aegis of the St+art India Foundation, set up to implement CSR programmes in the areas of education, skill-based enhancement, regeneration of public spaces, etc.

All donations towards this foundation are under section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
