1)Intro to the organization:-

Neev, a learning center for the under-served,  is an initiative and brain-child of Shalini Malhotra. NeeV is a program run under Bharat Memorial Charitable Trust (BMCT). BMCT was founded by Dr. Kesho Ram, an industrialist, and his wife Ms. Santosh Gupta in memory of their late son Bharat. The mission of Neev – is “To motivate and support as many under-served as we can, for education, good health, vocational training & employment”. We strive to provide the same in a happy, caring, and stimulating environment to help them identify their place under the sun.
Neev was initiated in 2007 with the intent of imparting education, vocational training, and healthcare to the children of the economically weaker population of Gurgaon which has migrant laborers in large numbers.
Our center is located in a village called Nangli Umarpur, a little off the Golf Course Extension Road. Our beneficiaries come from within a radius of 3 km and have been provided with a bus facility to ferry them to the center and back. They are primarily children of domestic help, gardeners, guards, drivers, masons, construction site workers, and rickshaw pullers.

2. How org is helping as relief work - Started as a small setup of 8 students and 1 facilitator, we are now a strong team of 430 students and 43 facilitators! We have classes from LKG to XII and follow the NCERT curriculum up to grade VIII followed by the NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) curriculum. Our grade X & XII students take the NIOS exam. Simultaneously, we have enrolled our beneficiaries who are above 12 years of age in various computer courses designed specially keeping their limitations and needs in mind to make them job-ready at the end of their tenure at Neev.
Weekly class tests along with half-yearly and annual exams are held every year and progress reports are issued which are later discussed with the parents in PTMs. Based on the performance shown, children are promoted to the next grade or transitioned to the fast track program, wherein we formulate our syllabus so that the children, who are older than the grade they are in, can finish 3 grades in 2 years.
Besides academics, we also focus on the development of spoken English skills through bi-weekly workshops, personality development and health ’n’ hygiene sessions, public speaking workshops, and library periods during which books are issued and discussed along with story sessions. 10 of our classrooms have an AV facility (large LCD screen with workstation), which helps us carry out digital teaching sessions at NeeV. Bi-annual deworming of all is carried out. Elaborate vaccinations have been carried out for all students over the last couple of years which besides the basic ones also include hepatitis and cervical cancer cover. A healthy snack, usually a seasonal whole fruit is provided to all every day. Two sets of both summer and winter uniforms are provided to all.

3. Utilization of funds - After being in the social space for almost fifteen years, serving the under-served strata of the society by giving them an opportunity to learn and grow. To find their right place under the Sun, armed with the right certificates and degrees, soft skills, a healthy mind and body, and above all a burning desire to make a difference in the world!
To make this opportunity available to a larger number of children and young adults, we have decided to construct a few more rooms and renovate the existing ones.
To manage the functioning of the center within the currently available infrastructure, the current set of 430 students has to come in two shifts with a lesser number of teaching hours per shift. By having more rooms, we would like to run the learning center in the single shift by giving them a greater number of teaching hours, and more time where they can interact with their peers and teachers, play games and watch videos.
We would like to utilize these funds to construct larger rooms, with a good number of desks in each room, a small cupboard to keep the in-class library, an AV facility for watching videos, etc for wholesome knowledge gain. We would also like to buy some more teaching and learning aids for smaller children and a science lab facility for middle and senior students.
