'We cannot do great things on this earth--only small things with great love.'
This is the motto that the Rajasthan Life for World Charitable Trust adheres to. The Trust was founded by me nearly a decade ago. The Trust was registered in 2010. Our primary concern is to support under-privileged children and empower women in rural Rajasthan.
We have focused on providing an exposure to education, folk dance, paintings in addition to other extra-curricular activities. While the men folk work as daily-wage labourers, the women supplement their income by stitching clothes for which they are paid on a daily basis. Attempts are also being made by us to provide a basic education to the children.
Through this campaign, we are focusing on empowering the women economically so that they can also contribute in their households.
Women and children employed in the domestic system of clothing production due to shortage of machine at home which led industrialization and survived alongside it. They worked in overcrowded, unsanitary cottages and workrooms from long hours each day to provide for their family. Few of them, despite unremitting toilets could only earn a negligible amount as wage and are powerless to resist payments in kind, petty exactions for errors and the greed and dishonesty pf the middle men.
The women folks of the villages have come to me for help so that I can help them in this regard.
We will be focusing on providing the women with sewing machines at their homes so that they can become self-reliant and come out of the vicious cycle of poverty.
Why are we initiating this campaign?
When our organization surveyed, we saw that there are ladies who were making some beautiful clothes and laying clothes. But, since they were using needle and thread, it took them at least 4-5 hours to make a cloth. If these poor women are provided with sewing machine, they would be able to make the same piece of cloth quickly. The women who do not have knowledge about operating sewing machines, they would get training from the educators.
Since we are short of funds and want to help the women be self-sufficient by providing them with sewing machines, we have thought of setting up the campaign in this platform.
A sewing machine may be a simple gift, but it would be life changing for the women and the girls who needs them.
