To give medicines for the poor people
(There is no Hospital in the Village)
About Project: Better Hope, a non-governmental organization proposes to organize “Medical
Camp for Better Health of Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu.
We are looking forward to organizing medical camps covering eight villages, approximately benefiting 4000 families. The villages have been identified based on their inability to reach urban area health care facilities during pandemics when public transportation is limited and panic is aloud among the local population while visiting health care facilities owing to travel involved.
Stage I- PREPARATORY STAGE (2 months)
The volunteers from NGO will visit each village panchayat and will indulge in
dialogue with the heads of villages. Identification of more local volunteers will
be done. Site selection for organizing camp will be carried out. A site easily approachable, timings convenient to the local population as per the activities they are involved in will be worked on. Once, exact date and time are finalized, suitable marketing will be carried out through announcements from text messages, village panchayats, posters at local markets giving wider coverage to the medical camps. Purchase of required medical supplies will also be carried during this phase. Services of voluntary medical professionals like Doctors, Nurses, and Pharmacists will also be
arranged during this phase.
It is expected that a time of two months will be required to work on the ground in this stage.
Stage 2: IMPLEMENTATION STAGE (3 months)
During the implementation stage, medical camps will be held at identified villages with the involvement of all volunteers and NGO people. Clinics will
be held for a day or more than that as per requirement gauzed during stage I at
a particular site. Qualified Doctors, trained nurses/ dispensers will be posted to
provide up-to-mark service to the local population. If required, the doctors may
further, recommend a particular medical case to only Govt Hospital for further intervention. During this phase, the primary focus will be to create awareness among the general population about hygiene, early acknowledgment of signs and symptoms of COVID, and other common ailments. The focus in the case of young girls and women will add to it awareness about menstrual hygiene too. Women will be encouraged to discuss the issues involving menstrual health with the
doctors at local govt hospitals. To achieve menstrual hygiene, free distribution of sanitary napkins will also be carried out. A session on a cost-effective nutritious
diet for adolescents and pregnant women is also planned. Various traditional recipes and cooking methods will be introduced during this
Complete detailed records for OPD patients, referral cases, prescribed and supplied medicines, sanitary napkins will be maintained by the team in registers. As
the same team will cover all villages, a period of around three months is dedicated to this phase. More health-related issues will also be identified and noted for future interventions.
Stage III: EVALUATION AND REPORTING STAGE (1 month)
The team’s performance and success of medical camps will be measured on the satisfaction level of beneficiaries. Phone calls, personal visits will be made to the
people who visited during camp to have feedback. The same will be recorded by NGOs based on pre-decided indicators. The success will be measured, flaws will
be noted to avoid repetition in the future.
Documentation of funds spent on medical supplies, stationery items (registers, etc), organizing of medical camp, engaging services of professionals (if unable to get volunteers), transportation charges, refreshment charges for the team on the day of activity will be maintained along with a list of beneficiaries.
