Grassroots filmmaking holds a transformative power. Through films, communities are able to dream, heal, and imagine new futures for themselves and the world. Isn't that what social justice is ultimately about?
In May 2024, Nazaria aims to launch (Re)Imagine - a Narrative Filmmaking Programme for creatively-inclined youth in the vibrant low-income community of Shankarwadi. Over 4 months, 15 aspiring storytellers will be taken through a series of intensive workshops in screenwriting, cinematography, production, and editing, while exploring the larger theme of (Re)Imagining.

By the end of the programme, youth artists will have created a series of short films reflecting their transgressive (re)imaginings of their lives and the world. Community film screenings and public forums will be held to spark meaningful dialogue among local residents and leaders at Shankarwadi.
