I am Naman Rai and had been working to cure an epidemic which plaques 47 million people worldwide. One of my close relatives succumbed to Young onset Alzheimer disease.This has a deep psychological impact on me. Since that day I was determined to create a Alzheimer free society through a medical revolution.This lead me to take up research work at the age of 14.I worked at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology,Hyderabad under Dr Arvind Kumar upon epigenetic mechanisms involved in neurodegenerative diseases. After working over there 2 months I decided to work on Alzheimer detection.After extensive analysis I devised "A simple saliva based for Alzheimer disease".It can detect Alzheimer 5-10 years before symptoms arise.The strip is paper based device which detects Amyloid beta 42 in saliva which is upregulated.It is highly Sensitive and specific and early detection through the strip could allow for intervention in presymptomatic stages and let us cure Alzheimer disease.This work had been undertaken at Clinical Research Facility(CCMB,Annex-2) and NIPER,Hyderabad.In order to achieve my dream of creating Alzheimer free world. In order to bring this technology to the people I launched a startup called Speaking Callosum.Currently we are working on the strip to detect Alzheimer disease.The people involved are Dr Shiju Thomas at CCMB and Pranjal Dugar
