As a part of Neelam projects, we conduct Art based training for children from marginalized communities in Tamil Nadu. The aim of these training programs is to be fun filled learning experiences as opposed to academics- the take aways are - team work, leadership, creativity and problem solving.
Article 31 of the convention on the right of the child states that children should ‘participate fully in cultural and artistic life’ Along with formal education, developing cultural aesthetics help the children to identify their hidden talent and leadership qualities and boost up their self- esteem.
Our aim is to reach deserving kids from marginalized communities. The children here never fail to keep us in high spirits. Their love for various art forms and life skill development trainings like Dance, Painting, Puppetry, Creative Writing, Martial arts, spoken English, leadership trainings, personality development, and Theatre art were clearly evident- they excelled! At present we have multiple academy centers (Chennai, Ramanathapuram, Thiruvannamalai, Arakkonam, Chengaulpattu, Udumalaipttai, Karaalpakkam) running almost in 3 slums and 5 villages covering 550 children between the age group of 05-16yrs.
Every year Neelam as an organisation gathers children from the “Neelam Educational Centers” from various places. This summer camp aims at bringing out the hidden talents of marginalized children longing for opportunities and recognitions. During the camp the children will be trained in skills aggregating Photography, Glass Paintings, Sculpture making and Theatre skills etc. Since we have witnessed the performances of every child in previous camps conducted by Neelam organization in association with eminent organizations which works for the development of Children this opportunity could pave them a new avenue in order to choose their focused passion.
The children will be trained by professionals and skilled trainers from respective industries. We want to give the best for the children and support them for a better tomorrow. We believe that every children takes part in the camp will be encouraged to build their confidence towards accepting the truth “that they are skillful and talented to approach the creativity by all means”.
