“My doctors told me I would never walk again. My mother told me I would. I believed my mother.”
— Wilma Rudolph
“My mother was the making of me. She was so true and so sure of me, I felt that I had someone to live for - someone I must not disappoint. The memory of my mother will always be a blessing to me.”
Thomas A. Edison
“My mother set the ambience for me, without which I would not be what I am. Motherhood is not of biology but of unconditional inclusion.”
Sadhguru, global spiritual leader
Mothers are the source of life, and the success of tomorrow’s generation depends on how we take care of our mothers. It is by respecting and honouring our mothers that we will empower the next generation of people.
This is what Mothers United Moment (MUM) 2022 aims to achieve.
Scheduled to be held from 10 to 14 November this year, MUM 2022 will feature 100 notable mothers as chief delegates, including Olympians, Air Force officers, sportswomen, doctors, and other notable people from across 31 countries. This is a cohort that I, award-winning photographer Shikha Khanna have personally selected and brought together in an upcoming coffee table book called ‘100 Self Portraits, 100 Dreams’. The book will be launched at the MUM 2022.
The 100 mothers will be accompanied by a larger gathering of supporters, who together will enable MUM 2022 to achieve its vision:
1. Spotlighting the uniquely incredible strengths, capabilities and perspectives that
mothers alone possess. These qualities can empower people, communities, and causes.
2. To act as a launchpad to co-create real-world opportunities to leverage mothers’ innate,
powerful qualities, and establish them entrepreneurs and changemakers who take on universal issues that mothers face.
3 Making a direct impact is the core value of MUM foundation and MUM 2022 with be supporting the Occupational therapy room for Sunderji Institute of Special schools
through funds collected during the event and 100 percent donation of the remaining funds of the event.
By locking arms across the globe, mothers can show the next generation that it is safe hands.
Across the five days, MUM 2022 participants will come together in events curated to promote collaboration, networking, and dialogue – vital to drive MUM 2022’s sense of collective purpose.
Your support will enable us to create this transformational moment of empowerment that will not only benefit mothers, but the many people whose lives they will touch.
To conclude, I’d like to leave you with a quote that has deeply inspired me:
“Only mothers can think of the future because they give birth to it.”
