URGENT APPEAL

My name is Juhi Sharma, my father Mr. Des Raj Sharma tested COVID positive on 20th April 2021. Despite managing the oxygen levels at home, his SPO2 level came down to 70 and we had to urgently move him to a hospital in Karnal on 25th April since there was an acute shortage of ICU beds in Delhi. Since then, he has been fighting with this disease and for us it seems like it has been a battle forever.
His treatment for COVID lasted an entire month during which he was on 100% oxygen support, IV steroids and other medications. He became COVID negative on May 20th, but was Mucormycotic positive. We had to arrange multiple injections of Iysosomal Amphotericin B which were extremely expensive (Rs.400,000). His medical condition progressively deteriorated. Since June 8th, he has been on ventilator support secondary to brain infarct, electrolyte imbalance and multiple organ dysfunction. Currently, he is on Dialysis due to renal failure. He requires repeated MRI of brain to assess the progression of his infarct. Bone marrow depression has required about 12 units of blood and 30 units of plasma infusion which is not over yet. Arranging blood and blood related products is another battle that we go through on a daily basis. Furthermore, tracheostomy is anticipated as well.
This entire process has affected the financial stability of our family. We are trying to arrange funds for his further treatments as we do not know how long his body will take to respond to the treatments. We have already exhausted our savings. As a daughter, all I can do is provide the best treatment for my father and urge you all to pray for him and help support his medical treatment. The battle isn’t over yet and any support from your side will be extremely helpful and appreciated. I wish I could go on and on explaining the financial and emotional pain that we go through every hour of the day.
People who know my father know how much he cares about everyone. He is an extremely jolly and positive person with a constant smile on his face. To see him lying on a hospital bed, fighting for his life everyday shatters my heart to bits.
