Mor Mitti is a social enterprise based out of Simdega, a left-wing extremism affected district in Jharkhand. Simdega is a small district in the mineral rich State of Jharkhand but does not have any mineral riches of the State. Additionally, the district has been subjected to left-wing extremism and human trafficking over the years.
Mor Mitti, started about five months back, aims to transform the district by identifying the local talent and their traditional practices and give it a market within and outside the country. Over the period of five months, the enterprise has been able to work with and bring together around 40 households to build a space that provides equal opportunities for everyone.
Simdega is one of the places with a lot of push migration for economic opportunities. At the same time, the district has vast riches of traditional knowledge and cultural practices that is being side-lined due lack of information on ways to convert them into sustained income sources. Mor Mitti, founded by four social entrepreneurs, strives to build a network of at least 94 MSME enterprises from the 94 Gram Panchayats of Simdega district to usher in a socio-economic change. It aims to harness the existing traditional knowledge and cultural practices of the community and give it a shape such that the products and services would be a sustained part of the formal economy.We have been working on the same front and have begun the training the rural communities under several government schemes. At the same time, formation of cluster groups has been initiated for these people so that they market their produce collectively and with better pricing on the whole.
We are starting with an aim of 10 MSME enterprise from the Simdega district with a plan to scale it up to at least 94 so that every nook and corner of the district is covered in the plan and no person is left out. The whole process at a time directly affects at least 500 people and indirectly affects the entire population of the district. This requires following activities:
The whole process requires a minimum of 25 lakhs of funds to ensure proper hand-holding support to the entrepreneurs for longevity and sustainability.

- Identification of the people with entrepreneurial mindset from the community: This step has already started and we have identified over 15 people.
- Identification of product for each of the entrepreneur.
- Training of the entrepreneur and development of the business plan.
- Starting of the MSME enterprise for the all the entrepreneurs.
The whole process requires a minimum of 25 lakhs of funds to ensure proper hand-holding support to the entrepreneurs for longevity and sustainability.
