Kalim was a flute seller in Gurugram and I met him way back in 2020 when the COVID pandemic started. He is father to six children, has a wife, and parents to take care of. During early pandemic days, he struggled to make even Rupees 100 a day, and I had to support him financially for him/his family to survive. He tried selling (flute) and surviving for an year in the city but nothing was same as before and he could not manage to full fill basic requirements for his family. He wanted to move back to his village Jaysinghpur in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh as there he had some relatives and cost of living was low vs. Gurugram so he moved there with his family and lived with relatives for some time. However, after few months they started questioning him on his plans to leave. After all they too, were not very well off and had limited resources to full-fill basic requirements. I helped Kalim to build his small house but the money fell short to complete the roof. Right now he is still somehow managing by working/living with relatives and taking care of bare minimum requirements (food/shelter) but monsoons are not away and he would need your help to complete the last and only part of the house i.e. roof. The estimates are made by a local vendor in sultanpur keeping in mind what minumum can be used. I request you to come forward and make Kalim's family settle in his village. This can also serve as an example for others to follow and not run to cities but build their own villages in the process.
