“Doctor, please do whatever it takes to save my son! He is all I have in this world.” I pleaded to the doctor with folded hands as tears streamed down my face uncontrollably.
My heart aches at the horrifying possibility of losing my 5-year-old child. My soul weeps at the prospect of never being able to hold him again. I don’t want my Alyaan's smile to fade away.
But I’m entirely powerless in the face of a disease I cannot control.
“It feels like it was just yesterday, that I was packing his bag for school. We had been blissfully getting ready for his new session. Oh how far away those days seem like now.”
My life took an abrupt turn last year when all of a sudden Alyaan developed an eye infection. We didn’t think much of it at the time, but soon, it got much worse.
Alyaan started experiencing severe pain in his left eye.
I frantically rushed him from one hospital to another in an attempt to try and heal him, but I was unable to do anything.
After a number of tests, the doctors asked for me and informed me of the news my heart did not want to listen to.
“Alyaan seems to be suffering from Extramedullary Acute Myeloid Leukemia. It seems to have been concentrated in his left eye. It’s an extremely rare & highly aggressive variant of blood cancer. He’s going to need treatment as soon as possible in order to survive.”
Time itself seemed to slow down. Each word the good doctor uttered seemed to chip away at my very existence as a parents. I couldn’t believe my boy had cancer.
But there still lied a task so daunting, I had never imagined I would be put up to it.
Alyaan needed a Bone Marrow Transplant. The hospital estimated that the entire procedure would cost us Rs 15 Lakhs ($ 20159.53).
As the pandemic hit us all we now have no source of income.
We’ve taken out loans, borrowed money from friends and family in order to get his treatment started. However, we’ve simply run into a financial dead-end.
“Ya Allah, why must we be tested like this. The gift of life that you bestowed upon me is oh so precious. Please help me keep this smile of his alive, help him flourish the way you intended for him to.”
We’re running out of time. Alyaan needs treatment and he needs it now.
In this difficult time, I now turn to you. Only your generous donations can save my son's life. Therefore I urge you to come ahead and donate to my Alyaan as much as you can.
Help me save the little life I’ve been entrusted with. Donate now.
