    Migrants Workers and kids

    from Palamu, Jharkhand

Hello everyone, we are Participatory Active Governance and Transformation by Youth. An NPO working for the migrant laborers who lost their livelihood during the lockdown and could not avail any benefits from the government because of lack of awareness.
We are committed to protecting and promoting the rights of socially excluded communities and working for ensuring Social Securities of Construction Worker under Building & other Construction Worker welfare board and to ensure Fundamental Rights of their children i.e Right to education. And to stop Child Labour. In Sheikhpura District of Bihar.

In the 21st century when we are talking about 21st-century skills, digital literacy, soft skills, etc. The children whose parents are working at Brick Klin (ईटा भट्टा ) are not able to write their name (अंगूठा छाप ). They migrate constantly from one worksite to another worksite every 3 to 6 months along with their parents, and as result, they are out of school and hence we decided to ensure their foundation literacy and numeracy skill (FLN) at the worksite.

We will support 25 Thousand workers (Brick Kiln) and their families including their children in 50 plus panchayat over the next 1 year with the following outcomes:
1. Delivering social security & entitlements
2. Ensuring Foundation Literacy & Numeracy Skills of their children who are out of School.
3. Providing access to responsible and ethical recruitment
4. Strengthening tracking, worker protections, welfare, and redressal

Recently, We inaugurated the Akshar Learning Center in a brick kiln (RBF Brick Kiln) in Lodipur panchayat of Sheikhpura district of Bihar. A little digging and we found that there are around 200 children and not even one of them knows how to write their name or has seen the face of a school. The need transpired from there and in the presence of Labour Superintendent, Vinay Kumar and CWC Superintendent, Shashibala Bhadani the center was inaugurated in the brick kiln, and materials such as copies, pencils, whiteboard, charts, slate, etc. were distributed in the center and with the children. Two capable tutors were also assigned to teach them foundation numeracy and literacy.
Like RBF Brick Kiln, there are around 50 plus brick kilns (we aim to reach all of them and open a learning center in all of them) in Sheikhpura District and numerous children working there and not having any kind of formal education and with them, their families are also not aware of their rights and entitlements. Opening a learning center is the first step to reach our goal of building quality life for the people in need. With this learning center and with the education we will be able to at least provide basic education so that the children can have some idea about paving their own path and not fall in that vicious circle.
While Akshar Learning Center is running to provide the children with formal education, we also aim to register their families and other workers under the BoCW (Building and Other Construction Workers) Act of 1996 and enable them to avail the benefits that they deserve. Under the BoCW Act, they will be insured for 5 Lakh Rupees, 10,000 to 15,000 Rupees Scholarship for children education, 50000 for the marriage of their daughter, pension after 60 years of age, 90 days minimum wage support for women during the pregnancy, etc.
This will help to eradicate child labor, Child marriage,  reduce mother Mortality rate (MMR), Infant mortality rate (IMR).
Initially, we need around 25,000 Rs. for starting every Akshar Learning Center.
To help the laborers and to move forward, we need your support along with your blessings. Do contribute and share this campaign link with your family and friends.
Thank You.

The objective is to provide free of cost education to children of migrant labor who otherwise do not get an education, in order to enable them to break away from the cycle of poverty described above.

1.Below-poverty-line children are getting nutritious food – there is a significant improvement in the children’s health.

2. Reduction in child labor in the area.

3. Children are brought up in a better environment – one where they don’t see daily consumption of alcohol, domestic violence, poverty and starvation

4. Provision of vocational training may (hopefully, one day) enable some children to break-away from the exploited life of working as migrant labor

The parents are hopeless about howling their stay going to be in the city. We don't want this hopelessness of the parents to affect the education of their children. So we strive to provide better education, safe accommodation, and healthy nutrition to the migrant kids we come along with.

Please come forward to support my cause. Any contribution will be of immense help. Do contribute and share this campaign link with your friends and family.
