These Children deserve #DAILYNUTRITION during their growing years

WHY MITIGATING HUNGER IS A PRIORITY?? IT IS ONE OF THE CAUSES FOR LOW IMMUNITY, VULNERABLE TO DISEASES!!! CHILDREN RETURNING TO SAFER ENVIRONMENT!second wave of covid was the most devastating public health crisis in India’s history. Even affluent and middle-class families took the brunt but for the poor, the lockdowns and loss of job has been devastating. The loss of livelihood has brought poor families to a state of total helplessness and destroyed their financial safety nets. In urban villages, slums and resettlement colonies, low public amenities and medical infrastructure combined with the pandemic have wreaked havoc.

Most vulnerable are children, pregnant and lactating women, the old and the sick. When one or both parents in a family show symptoms of mild covid, they are forced to drop their jobs. A sizable group of adolescents have been absorbed into domestic service and cases of small children being sent away to work as baby sitters are common. Living on the periphery of society, some of these individuals cannot even avail of government benefits like a few kilos of cereals and lentils. Families that used to earn a living wage have started experiencing hunger again, as their ‘2 meals a day’ have shrunk or vanished.

Joint Women’s Program has been working in the slum clusters for over a decade in three states, running centers with primary education and mid-day meals and vocational and skill training centers for vulnerable groups. As a grass roots organization, we have learnt that bringing ‘food on the plate’ is priority no. 1, to fight the hunger first and then fight the disease. If hunger is kept away, the children, pregnant women and the old stay at home, protecting them from exposure to virus. The biggest positive effect is that children between 8 and 16 are sent back to school. The Mid Day Meal would serve the TWIN purpose of mitigating Hunger and providing Education, primary requirements of school going children.

The pandemic has hit our organization too, as charitable donations from our supporters have dried up over the past year. Please donate generously to support healthy, nourished families. It all starts with “Food on the Plate’ the first step to get these families out of the poverty cycle, and their children Back to School. We are an organization of volunteers and honorary members. So we can assure you that every rupee donated by you will reach those who need it the mmost.OUR CENTERS ARE OPEN #LeaveNoOneBehind THANKS TO OUR DONORS !!
