Project RIGHT, which stands for Real Inclusion in Gender Health and Treatment, is a transgender health outreach initiative founded by Safira Chatwal, a student at the Marlborough College in England. Project RIGHT works primarily with the LGBTQ+ community in West Delhi, seeking to identify key areas of intervention in terms of their physical and mental wellbeing. Utilizing a survey to gain insight into the conditions and needs of the community, the project is currently hosting Health Camps and Wellness Seminars in collaboration with Dr. Dang’s Diagnostic Laboratory and Dr. Utkarshini Arora respectively. At the Health Camps, participants can avail standard diagnostic tests and a full STD panel test, followed by the opportunity to meet with a licensed and trained doctor to discuss their results.

The Wellbeing Seminars and Workshop Sessions will be led by Dr. Utakrshni Arora, a mental health professional, who will meet with attendees to discuss the importance of maintaining mental health along with various ways in which they can practice mental wellbeing. This, in addition to dedicated Workshop Sessions conducted by Safira that will discuss prominent issues that affect India’s LGBTQ+ community, along with serving as a platform for open and bias-free communication.

The proceeds of this fundraiser will be used to facilitate these workshops and health camps, and also cover the costs of the medical tests carried out by Dr. Dang’s Diagnostic Laboratory. Every single donation would be an invaluable addition towards ensuring that proper medical attention can reach the LGBTQ+ community, which has often been overlooked when it comes to readily available and accessible healthcare.
