About Universe Simplified
Universe Simplified Foundation (USF), a Mumbai based non-profit, is setting up STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) based Innovation Hubs within schools and community centers for economically challenged children in rural and urban areas. Our Innovation Hub program implement hand-on, inquiry-driven, collaboration, and application-based learning. About the Science Fair
We are raising funds for supporting our children to organize Science Fair – ‘Vignyan Mahotsav’ at the Dahagaon Village in Bandhane Pada, Maharastra. Students of Dahagaon Zilla Parishad School and Jagruti Vidhyalay (age 12 -14-year-old) are to demonstrate the projects they have worked on over the course of this academic year. These children are learning about science, electronics, programming and Arduino. They have applied this knowledge to address local challenges. Some of the challenges they have selected are solar-powered fan and mobile charger to address the power cut problem they face, water filter made up of locally sourced resources and water level indicator. In addition to demonstrating various projects, these children are setting up food stalls, games and activity zone to encourage the visitors to experience hands-on learning and joy of making. A team of 120 children are working on organizing this event. They are learning about organizing an event and event management for the very first time.
In addition to creating a platform for our children to showcase their skills, we are looking at this event as an opportunity to get more teachers and children excited about STEM. With the support of the school teachers and local communities, we are expecting around 1500 Students and visitors from the schools, colleges, and villages around the Dahagaon.
The event is taking place on March 5, 2020, from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. This is the first time that such an event is taking place in and around Dahagaon village. Students and teachers are excited alike. We have been provided with a huge playground near the school for this event. The money raised will be used in various aspects of Vignyan Mahotsav including but not limited to arranging for the basic facilities, decorations, investment in food stalls, material for a hands-on activity, security and safety.
