Help us build the next generation of Indian storytellers from the grassroots, one community at a time.
There is transformative power in grassroots storytelling - stories that give voice to often unheard and underrepresented communities. Only when youth and women from marginalized communities are equipped with the tools, agency, and platforms to tell their own stories, in their own voices, and on their own terms, can we begin to redefine the narrative of mainstream media in India.

At Nazaria, we envision an India where multimedia storytelling, through films, photography, journalism, and graphic design, is enabling marginalized youth and women to dream, heal, and imagine new futures for themselves.
Over the past 3 years, our Shankarwadi Kahani Lab (community multimedia lab) has been home to 70+ youth and 15+ women, who have experienced rigorous multimedia arts training and social justice education through various Nazaria programs. Over time, this community-run space has evolved into a creative sanctuary located in the heart of Shankarwadi, Mumbai, that allows youth and women from the community to explore their awareness of self and society, to develop skills for creative expression, and to exercise their voice and agency through multimedia artworks.
In 2024:
In 2025, we are expanding our Kahani Lab programming to 50 new youth, and we are looking for 50 patrons to join our Nazaria Community, to each sponsor one youth artist’s journey for the year.
Here’s how you can support:
For just INR 2,000 per month (~25 USD), or INR 24,000 per year (~300 USD), you can sponsor extensive multimedia arts education for one youth artist, enabling them to pursue a career in the arts and media. Your sponsorship will enable us to run weekly multimedia workshops, hold community film screenings, organise exposure visits, and ensure access to industry-level equipment for 50+ youth artists from across multiple communities in Mumbai.

We recognize that not everyone is able to make large donations and welcome smaller donations as well. Every little bit counts!

In 2024:
- We ran the ReImagine Film Programme - a 6-month filmmaking intensive with 20 teenagers from 3 low-income communities in Mumbai, creating 5 short films that are now reaching international audiences and film festivals.
- With our Travelling Kahani Lab, we travelled across 4 states, running storytelling bootcamps with 100+ rural youth and women in Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Bihar.
- And, we started Sakhi Radio, a year-long feminist solidarity circle for marginalised women across Mumbai, leading to the creation of their own podcast.
