Girls in low-income settings miss or struggle at school during menstruation if they are unable to manage their menstrual hygiene effectively.
At least 1 in 5 Indian girl drop out of school due to Menstruation. But, this dropout rate decreased up to 90% in a community where we worked.
That’s why we are giving more emphasis on Menstruation programs.
Let’s Talk about Periods Initiative
We organize sessions and workshops under our Let’s Talk about Periods initiative, educating girls about menstruation helps increase their self-esteem and bust myths and cultural superstitions. It allows girls to be prepared for their first period. Proper menstrual hygiene keeps girls in school. Many girls typically miss five days of school each month due to inadequate menstrual protection. Access to menstrual hygiene products keeps girls on the same track as their male peers.
Effect of Menstrual cycle on girl
- Disease like UTI's, STI's and cervical cancer
- Complication with conception, childbirth, Infertility
- Low Self Esteem and confidence
- Loss of Productivity at work
- Loss of iron in body & weakness
Per training cost is approx. Rs. 5K
Out of that Rs. 2000 will be transportation and material cost.
and Rs. 3000 will be trainers honorarium.
