The lockdown was announced within a few hours, and migrant laborers from across the country had no transport. They had no choice but to walk the whole length of the highways to go back to their villages. They walked in the scorching heat with nothing but their children and empty stomachs. Thousands of laborers were seen walking along the Gujarat-Rajasthan highway.
Many laborers feared that they'll die out of hunger even before being infected with Corona. In an attempt to save the nation, a quarter of its population was forgotten. While the government has been working to provide relief material in the form of food packets and ration kits, the country's large population demanded NGOs to step in.
To answer their calling, Making The Difference, an NGO that has taken the oath to ensure that nobody should sleep hungry have worked hard to help people overcome this crisis. We've helped over 78000+ families by distributing grocery kits. These grocery kits contained essential staples such as Rice, atta, pulses, Onion, patato, sugar, Salt, chilly powder, Termeric powder, oil and so on.
In Mumbai, we've reached out to more than 65000 families. With the support of their donors, they've helped feed more than 78000+ families. As the situation is worsening, they are aiming to reach out to more cities and help feed the poor and marginalized communities.
We urge you to come forward. Donate as much as you can to help feed these families. With your generous contributions, these families can survive this dreadful pandemic. A grocery kit that you donate to can help feed a family for up to 5 days.
