Mahek Banerjee, a bright young girl of 15 years and a silver medalist in karate in commonwealth games for India, and daughter of Mr. Abhijit Banerjee, met with a near fatal accident yesterday. She is currently in comatose state,fighting for her life,  and on ventilation/ life support. She was initially admitted to ruby hospital, Kolkata India. Owing to the costs increasing by the minutes, the family was forced to look at alternate hospitals to shift her, since Ruby started charging almost Rs. 2 Lakhs per day. She has been shifted to SSKM hospital where she is currently on full life support (the picture above is from SSKM hospital). Doctors are trying their best to save her life.

The family is completely in dire straits now because of the fact that the family doesn't have a Mediclaim or healthcare coverage. The family has already spent whatever they had, for her hospitalization and medication. However the rapidly mounting bill is now running into several lakhs. In that scenario, they are in severe need of financial assistance to somehow manage to keep Mahek alive.
