In Honour of Our Brave Coursemate – Lt Shashank Tiwari (IC-91128W)
1 Bn Sikkim Scouts
It is with profound sorrow and immense pride that we share the tragic demise of our brave coursemate Lt Shashank Tiwari, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on 22 May 2025, while serving with 1st Battalion, Sikkim Scouts.
On that fateful day, Lt Shashank Tiwari, was leading a route opening patrol towards TOB Chu Junction when one of his comrades, AV Stephan Subba, was swept away by a fast-flowing stream while crossing a log bridge. Without a moment’s hesitation and with complete disregard for his own safety, Lt Shashank jumped into the stream to rescue his buddy. He succeeded in saving AV Stephan but tragically could not save himself. His body was recovered 800 meters downstream.
His mortal remains were brought back to his hometown on 23 May 2025, where family, friends, and locals paid their last respects with deep emotion and honour.
Lt Shashank Tiwari was a young and dedicated officer, born on 24 January 2002, and had only recently joined the unit after being commissioned on 14 December 2024. In his brief but inspiring service, he upheld the highest traditions of courage, camaraderie, and selfless service.
He is survived by his mother, Smt Neeta Tiwari, father, and sister, who reside in Village Manjhwa, Post Gaddoopur, Ayodhya Cantt, Uttar Pradesh.
As a mark of respect and gratitude, we, his coursemates, are raising funds to support his grieving family in this difficult time. This is not just an act of solidarity, but a small gesture to honour the memory of a brave soul who lived and died for others.
We request you to contribute generously. Every small effort counts and will go a long way in easing the burden on his family and showing them that Lt Shashank’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
