My mother and everyone’s beloved Gauri Patel left this world at an early age of 65. She left us with lots of fond memories and lessons for how to live the life. Throughout her life she emphasized a lot on education – for her kids, for her kids’ friends, for her acquaintances, and for less fortunate ones who could not afford. I have seen numerous such incidents throughout my life where she has gone above and beyond to help out others – pushing and convincing maid to ensure that kids enroll and stay in school, visiting slums every week to teach kids, spending time in various villages performing Swadhyay “Bhakti feri” and explaining the importance of education to villagers who haven’t had any formal education. As we pass 30 days commemorating her, what better way could be to continue her legacy than to help more kids get educated? We are picking up a project on a subject that was very near and dear to her heart – providing education opportunities to little girls by working with NGO Nanhi Kali (the flower bud).Please join my hands in continuing her mission. Project Nanhi Kali is one of India’s largest programs that enable underprivileged girls to complete 10 years of schooling. The project provides daily academic support as well as an annual school supplies kit, which allow the girls to attend school with dignity.
Over the years, Project Nanhi Kali has reached out to over 4,50,000 underprivileged girls across 14 states in India.
Successful girl child education has been continually accepted as a successful way to break the inter-generational cycle of myths, social evils, poverty, and social norms.
With the twin objective of positively impacting India’s development by educating girls and encouraging Indians to contribute to a worthy cause, Project Nanhi Kali was designed as a sponsorship program, wherein individuals and corporate could participate by sponsoring girls’ education for a minimum period of a year. With progress reports every 3 months, you can keep a track of how well our Nanhi Kalis progress in academics as well as extra-curricular activities.
