Vasanthi is the wife of a farmer, a mother of two and a micro-entrepreneur on her own . After her daily chores & field work, she commutes over 20 kms a day to run a small ironing shop.
As her landlady hasn't allowed her to use an electric iron box, she has to use dirty charcoal which is time-consuming, emits fumes and doesn't give as good a press as an electric iron. She can't afford to move as the rentals are higher in the neighbourhood. The trade-off of low rentals for lack of power hasn't helped her establish a viable business over the last three years despite her willingness to put in effort and long hours.
Arohana Seva Foundation seeks your assistance to help Vasanthi relocate her shop, upgrade to electricity and provide long-term rental support and mentoring to ensure that in two years, she has a viable business.
