Baby Radhe Haldar (boy), just 10 months old is undergoing treatment for Myocarditis in the PICU unit at Institute of Child Health (ICH), 11 Dr Biresh Guha Street, Kolkata 700017, India.
Baby Radhe Haldar was admitted into ICH on 8th Aug 2021 and was put in Bed no 49 but had to be shifted to PICU on 9th Aug 2021 when his condition worsened. He is on ventilation support now and has IV drips and other medicines being administered. Radhe’s heart is pumping at 20% and he is in a very critical condition, undergoing regular blood transfusion.
Radhe comes from a very poor family, settled in the Narendrapur on the outskirts of Kolkata, India. His grandmother works as a house help and his Father as a driver at a Car Rental Company. Due to Covid induced lockdown and various other restrictions, income sources within the family have gone down drastically.
Radhe’s medicine bill has already exceeded Indian Rs. 1,00,000/- including regular injections worth Rs. 12,000/- each and daily requirement of medicines as asked by the hospital. Added to this cost, would be the additional charges for PICU bed and hospital charges. The family has borrowed from family sources and friends to meet the expenses till now but is unable to do any more.
As per Doctors at ICH, Baby Radhe as of today, 11th Aug 2021, is slowly responding so the continuation of medication is essential. At this juncture, without any more financial support, which the child’s family desperately needs, they will be unable to continue Radhe’s treatment to save him.
Ajoy Haldar (Baby’s father) appeals to kind-hearted souls to help bring back the smile on Baby Radhe’s face and his family.
