In Memory of Rahul Kumar
We lost our dear friend Rahul Kumar due to COVID in May. Rahul was a highly respected police officer, a loving father of two young daughters, a devoted husband, and a champion of social causes.
“It’s not length of life but depth of life that matters”. This is what perfectly epitomises Rahul’s life. He touched so many lives through the Saahas India initiative which is an NGO he started for the welfare of physically and mentally disabled children and their families.

“Rahul Kumar, the 39-year-old deputy SP of Moradabad, is not an ordinary police officer. Along with the nerves of steel that make him a tough cop, he has a heart of gold that has earned him the blessings and unconditional love of thousands of differently abled people across the state.
Kumar is the pillar behind Saahas India, an initiative of UP Police for the welfare of the physically and mentally disabled. Under Saahas, hundreds of police officers, junior and senior, have turned into ‘legal guardians’ of the needy.”

Rahul was a graduate of IIT Delhi (93-97, Mechanical Engineering, Aravali Hostel) but he decided to devote his life to serving others by joining the UP police as PPS officer. He became an exemplary cop and continued to touch thousands of lives wherever he was posted.
There are very few people who come into your life for a short time but their impact and memories are for a lifetime. Rahul is one of them. Every time you remember Rahul there is one emotion which is predominant which is joy combined with naughtiness and happiness. Whether you attend class with him, spend time in the hostel, or a mere presence in the room, he made everyone smile.
On the personal front, Rahul met Kusum in Delhi and they got married in 2004. They have two lovely daughters (age 9 and 13). His family and this world have lost an amazing human being.
He lost his elder brother a few weeks ago to the same disease and it is so heartbreaking to see his family suffer such a great deal.

His wife now faces the task of raising the children being the sole caregiver for the family. We have created this fundraiser to help with upbringing and education of their two small children. Please spread the word and contribute generously to this noble cause. Thank you!

How much should I donate?
Any contribution is welcome.
How will the funds be used?
The funds will be used to pay school tuition and school associated expenses for Rahul’s children. These will be maintained in a policy (created for the exclusive benefit of the family) which will ensure some form of a monthly earning for the family.
How much money are you targeting to raise?
We are targeting to raise ₹ 1 cr. We have already contributed ₹ 10 lakhs directly, so we're looking to raise another 90 lakh on Milaap. We’ve come up with this based on the current funds available to the family, their current pressing loans and the expected expenses to ensure the children can get a graduate education of their choice in a professional university.
