Hello Friends,

Greetings from Stop Acid Attacks.

This is a fundraiser by Kunti from Sheroes Hangout, Lucknow to support the Food Distribution Drive, an initiative by Chhanv Foundation, an organisation of acid attack survivors in India. This project aims to provide the food packets to the Covid Patients and their Attendants in hospitals, vulnerable communities and the needy souls who are in dire need and facing the challenges to arrange their meals. Kunti, the campaign organiser, is a campaigner with Stop Acid Attacks, is herself an acid attack survivors knows the challenges of hunger as she is a sole bread earner of her family.

Food insecurity in India has worsened since the Second Wave of the Pandemic began, with the hunger crisis engulfing large swaths of the rural hinterland and some metropolitan regions. Many people have been affected by the Pandemic's wrath, as well as the uncertainties that come with it. Our Survivors found calm at Cafe Sheroes Hangout, which let them reclaim their respite. The lockdown limitations, as well as the pandemic itself, resulted in poor foot traffic at the cafes, resulting in their closure.

Following that, the CHHANV FOUNDATION launched the Covid Food Distribution Drive as part of its ‘Smile Goal Hai' campaign to bring smiles to people's faces in these trying times, in order to rejuvenate and lighten those precious smiles of our survivors and staff, as well as to meet the needs of our own community.

This food distribution effort prompted us to reopen the café, to recover our survivors and staff from Sheroes, and to consider how we could help the community during this difficult time. The survivors would be able to return to work and be in good mental health.
The meals, termed as ‘Happy meal Box’ run in compliance with our project, ‘Smile goal hai"

HAPPY MEAL BOX
The meal box includes a ‘Thali’ whose cost of production ranges around 60 rupees. Apart from that, a nutritional food box is available whose cost of production ranges around 40 Rupees. At present, 4 different types of meals are available which includes a complete nutritious and filling diet of Dal, Sabzi, salad, daal-chawal, roti and raita.

Food Boxes Delivered in 25 Days
We are ensuring food to major District Hospitals, their patients and staff at Isolation Wards, Vaccination Teams etc at Agra and Lucknow Other than this, there are a lot of homeless people around the hospitals and throughout the cities who cannot afford a single meal a day. We are trying to ensure that they don’t sleep empty stomachs. Old age homes, orphanages, slums and some other organizations also require meals and we are delivering food to them as well.

Initially, there were only 50 packages, but considering the situation, we increased the numbers of boxes after increasing demands for an enormous 80 to 100 packets at once, which made us ratify the condition at this needy hour.
Till today, we have delivered nearly 5000 food packets in Agra and Lucknow. We are trying our best to continue this drive but are running short on funds. Our budget is soon going to be exhausted and we have urged people to come forward and make this drive successful.
