This campaign is for the villages of Bundelkhand. Water, a basic human necessity but this rural population has been struggling for its access. Women have to walk miles, quite a number of times in a day to fetch water from the water source, which are mostly hand pumps. On my visit to these villages, many of hand pumps are not working and need to be repaired. Wells have dried up in many regions.

Scarcity of water in this region is a grave issue and needs immediate intervention, and with the current plagues of the pandemic, water as  a resource has become all the more crucial, having to maintain hygiene as per the directives of the health institutions. Understanding all this, it is crucial that we ACT NOW!

The funds raised through this campaign will be utilised to repair hand pumps and install water motor, installing taps in various villages which has been identified till date in lalitpur District of Bundelkand region.

A minimum cost for repairing one hand pump which includes purchasing pipes, transporting the material to those remote villages and charge for service of a mechanic is around Rs 2500.
Why we need to act now is because summer without water during this pandemic- COVID 19 is making the scene worse. These people are struggling to access water for drinking , how we expect them to use to same water for handwash as well? We need understand the gravity of the problem and have to do our bit to help these people.
