I am running my first marathon to help Kaikondrahalli lake

My running journey started in Kaikondrahalli lake in 2014, it has been one of my training grounds for many 10k and 21ks in the last few years.  I am now training to run my 1st marathon in Mumbai's SCMM in January 2017 and would like to dedicate my run to  KAIKONDRAHALLI LAKE.

It is one of the few lung spaces in the otherwise congested Sarjapur area and it attracts many walkers, runners, senior citizens, photographers everyday.  In the recent months it has been a challenge to maintain the lake due to reduced resources.  Your contributions will go a long way in saving this lake.

The lake was rejuvenated by the BBMP with active involvement from the local citizens and is now almost completely community-funded and managed by MAPSAS Trust.  MAPSAS, an acronym for “Mahadevapura Parisara Samrakshane Mattu Abhivrudhi Samiti”, is a not for profit registered Trust that was formed in 2011 to revive and rejuvenate lakes in the Bellandur ORR/Sarjapur Road/Harlur Road area.

The funds collected through this campaign will be used for the upkeep and maintenance of the lake for every month as well as organise KERE HABBA 2017, a novel lake festival conducted on January of every year.

Support my initiative and support my run to save the KKH lake for the current and future generations.

Thank you in advance for your contributions for my initiative.

Dear Friends & Relatives,

Thank you all for your very generous contribution towards my initiative to - Support Kaikondrahalli Lake.  After the initial restoration by BBMP the lake is now maintained & funded by the community.  It cost about Rs 2 lakhs to maintain the 48 acre KKH lake and in the last few months due to the shortage of funds, staff had to be reduced.  Thanks to all your support i'm able to raise some extra funds and help with the maintenance.

I set my initial target at Rs 1.15 lakhs but due to the overwhelming response from all of you i'm close to reaching this target with some of my friends and relatives yet to contribute to my cause.  I would like to raise my target to Rs 1.5 lakhs and if I reach this amount, thanks to you all, this amount will about take care of the 1 month maintenance.

On a positive note,  Kaikondrahalli lake has been recently recognized by NITI  ( National institute of transforming India) as one of the 2 successful lake restoration models in India. This is indeed a big boost coming from the Government of India and hope this will enable us to garner more funds for the lake in the long run.

I would once again like to thank each one of you for your support in my initiative.
