An Ode to Kiran Sir: A Guiding Light in Our Lives

With the extended support of the alumni of St. Francis Institute of Technology from several batches and the management of the institute, the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering is starting an initiative to honor and remember our beloved lab assistant, who was also a dear friend to many of us.

Please know that this initiative is not driven by the family’s request but stems from our collective desire to pay tribute to him.

We’d like to address some questions that have been raised:

   1. Who will benefit? All proceeds will go to his wife, Purnima Patil, and his two children, Priyanka Patil and Prathana Patil.

   2. Is the family aware? Yes, the immediate family is aware and appreciates our genuine desire to honor his memory.

   3. Who initiated this? This initiative is a collaboration among the EXTC department and alumni of the college.

Please know that you are not obligated to contribute. However, if you feel that he touched your life as he did ours, you are welcome to join in.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we come together to honor his legacy.

Kiran Sir—just hearing his name brings a flood of cherished memories. Since 2007, when he first joined St. Francis Institute of Technology, he became a constant source of guidance, support, and inspiration for every batch of students who struggled with circuits in the Electronic Devices and Circuits lab. He wasn’t just a lab assistant; he was a mentor, a friend, and for so many of us, a guardian angel.

For 17 years, he gave us his quiet strength, his unwavering patience, and his humble presence. His nasal voice still echoes in our minds, reminding us of his gentle way of explaining, of never losing faith in us, even when we were ready to give up. Kiran Sir never demanded recognition, yet he left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed paths with him.

But beyond the lab, Kiran Sir was a devoted husband and an extraordinary father. His daughters were the light of his life. Like any loving father, he made sacrifices every day to give them the world they deserved. He would talk about them with such pride, his eyes lighting up at the smallest of their achievements. They were his dreams, his legacy.

Now, as we mourn his passing, we also find ourselves reflecting on the countless ways he enriched our lives. Every one of us has stories of how he patiently worked with us to fix circuits that wouldn’t show a sine wave, or how he stayed late to make sure we were prepared for practical exams. When we stumbled, he was there, lifting us up with his characteristic
 words of encouragement:

"Arre tum humare bache ho, zindagi bhar yaad rakhoge na ki Kiran Sir ne help ki isliye lab kar paaye."

Kiran Sir lived a life of selflessness. He believed in the good in people and gave without hesitation, always putting others before himself. And now, it’s our turn to carry forward the kindness and generosity he exemplified.

His daughters, the ones he worked so hard for, need us. Education was something Kiran Sir deeply valued—not just for his students, but for his own family. Let us come together to ensure that his dreams for his daughters don’t fade away.

We have the chance to honor his memory by supporting what mattered most to him. Every contribution, no matter the size, is a tribute to the incredible person he was and the lives he touched.

Rest in peace, Kiran Sir. You’ll always live in our hearts, in the lessons you taught us, and in the love you so freely gave.

Let’s stand united as the SFIT family to give back to someone who gave us so much.
