Hi! My name is Khushi Chauhan, I am 18 years old and I work as a Music Instructor at Teach For India's Musical Production 'Conference of the Birds' with kids who come from a background of zero exposure to music or the arts. Apart from running personal tuitions for music, I have also been working as a Slam Out Loud fellow, where I use different art forms to inculcate social and emotional learning for students who come from low-income backgrounds.

I'm extremely passionate to tell you why I do the work I do! It's because of the pictures and videos that you shall find attached to this message.

As a 10-year-old girl, I was a part of 'Maya the musical' a Broadway Musical production but more than that a lifetime experience which helped me find my voice. The work that I do just reflects my passion for paying the gift that I received forward to a lot more children like me. It also reflects that it wouldn't just take books to bring the right education for kids, but the power of arts, the power of music as a tool for self-expression that will create compassionate and inspiring leaders of tomorrow.
I'm writing this message to you, to tell you why and how much I am passionate about Music.
I don't come from a musical family, but as a child, in grade 3 I was sung great melodies and songs in a classroom of 40 children by exceptionally fun-loving teachers (whom we called 'didis'). I loved singing!
And then very soon, I got the opportunity to audition for 'Maya', where I sang all these songs I loved.
As I was accepted and given the role of 'Maya' the main character in the play, I was taught by outstanding professional artists from America, from whom I learnt that music is able to hold so much power because of all the different elements that combine. As a 11-year-old, I was learning the nuances of singing and music, the emotion, the lyrics and the rhythm that together connected me to myself and the world.
Here's a video of when I was singing, one of my songs in the regular rehearsals of 'Maya'.
(The links to all these videos are in the message you've received, please do take a look at them!)
I remember standing in front of 1000 people singing the song 'If I were brave'. It took my mentors 18 months to give me a lifetime experience of what it means to ‘sing from your heart.
Coming from a background with no exposure to music, or even having the confidence to express myself in front of a group of 4 people, such an experience gave me a voice and taught me that there is so much potential and creativity in me, that I want to unleash all my life, to speak for the things I believe in. I wanted to be a performer and artist, and a Musician who not just sings but Influences people through her music.

And so am I now.
Having completely lost connection with music after the musical, 10 years later I joined a musician entrepreneur named Daniel Hogg, to build this outstanding startup called 'Burntune' that aimed to create a community of Artists & Musicians who collaborate and support each other while learning how to market their music and create a personal identity. I instantly reconnected with a desperate love for singing, writing and learning music. I taught myself to play the guitar and the keyboard, as well as spent a very large amount of time, understanding music theory and creating music. Later in the year, I developed a passion for writing songs and taught myself the basics of a DAW like FL studio to put my musical ideas together.
(You will also find links to all my work in the message that you have recieved)
I've been singing, teaching and creating music for over a year now! Through this year I've only learnt that my sensitivity and passion for music have given me the power to influence a community of people and shape me into a songwriter, who knows the power of her music.

This is where I learnt that my musical journey needs more direction and structure than how much I could teach myself. I recently applied to The True School of Music for a Bachelor's degree program in Music Production and Performance in the Vijaybhoomi University. I'm proud to even say that I've been recommended a 100% tuition scholarship by the respected professors from True School, they even provided me waiver on my hostel fees, with which I wouldn't have to pay anything for my 3years of accommodation in the college.
I feel grateful for all the support I have already received so far, although I would need some more help to achieve my dream. I require another Rs 90,000 to fulfil my Admission Processing and security fees, Alumni Association and student council fee. I've provided a detailed account of the expense below and also pictures for proof!

Admission Processing - 50,000
Security fees- 25,000
Alumni Association- 10,000
Student Council - 5000
You shall find proofs of the emails I've recieved from College below too!

I have been living independently for over year now, and unfortunately, do not have the financial strength to pay such an amount right now. This is an opportunity I've been waiting for!
Your contribution to my musical journey will give me the power to make myself into an artist, who not just expresses themself through her music but can inspire and encourage many more kids like me, to use art as a way of speaking out to the world.
