Khupmang Lhouvum is very close friend of mine. He is the eldest among their siblings. He lost his mother at a very young age and lost his father too when he was pursuing his Higher Secondary studies. Being the eldest son and two younger sisters to look after he quit his studies to shoulder the responsibility of his family. So, from that early age he got engaged in job and took the bull of life by it's two horns to support his family and educate his two young sisters. But fate had other plans for him. His challenges were not over yet. A month and a half back he was not well and went to get medically examined. And alas, he was diagnosed with Stage 5 Kidney failure (both the kidneys) which requires immediate Kidney transplant. Up till the transplant, he needs dialysis every alternate day which cost around 4,000/- per dialysis. Staying in a rented house, and spending all his savings up till now on his medical treatment up to now, he is in a sorrowful state. For the transplant operation, he has to stay 3 months prior to the operation and 4 months post the operation (total 7 months) in rented accommodation in Kolkata of which the rent comes around 25,000/- per month. He has applied for a loan of 10,000,00/- and has been helped with an amount of around 2,00,000/-. Approximately, he will require around 25,00,000/- (inclusive of his operation cost, medicines, accommodation expenses and miscellaneous expenses of 7 months). So, he is short of around 13,00,000/-.
