Hello, my name is Kavya Mukhija. I am a person with disability and a wheelchair user. On the night of April 16, my heart rate reached 250 bpm. We tried a few home remedies but to no avail. The next day, I was rushed to the ER. After a few tests, we got to know that my lungs were infected – it was covid.
We believed Covid was the cause of my racing heart. However, in October 2022, my heart rate shot up again and crossed 260 bpm - twice on the same day. I was in Pune at that time & could only get first aid.
After returning to Jaipur, I got tested and was diagnosed with PSVT (paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia). It is a condition that causes a sudden & abrupt increase in heart rate. There are some extra circuits in my heart and each time the current takes a different route, the heart rate increases.
A few other check-ups also revealed that I had gallstones – the cause of a splitting abdominal pain I had been experiencing for many months, which we thought was caused due to gas. The treatment for both - gallstones and PSVT - are surgical procedures. I have to get these procedures done as soon as possible. The big hurdle in front of me is that I have no medical insurance.
As a disabled person, getting medical insurance is an impossible task. I thought I had medical insurance as part of my family's insurance plan but that plan was discontinued by the company upon false claims of non disclosure of my pre-existing disability - Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita. Not only me but my entire family has been left without any insurance coverage.
I need your support to seek treatment for my medical conditions and live a healthy life. As I live with a disability, there have been extreme challenges in accessing medical support and despite the commitment of my parents, the medical costs keep multiplying.
Given the extremely high costs, access to medical healthcare is a challenge for people with disabilities in India. This is why I reach out to you. With your support, I'll be able to fund my medical treatment and can get back to living a less streesful life.
Please contribute, how much ever you can. Every rupee counts!
